Blue Ridge Mountain EMC is aware that some features within the Customer Portal are not functioning. Specifically, items listed under the “More” heading including daily usage, monthly usage, statements, statement delivery and contact info links are not working as before. During one of our more recent security audits, BRMEMC discovered a potential security issue within the portal, and out of an abundance of caution decided to disable the at-risk features pending security patching. BRMEMC immediately contacted its third-party vendor, Paymentus, who provides this portal and requested immediate assistance to mitigate the potential security issues. Paymentus has responded that it will take significant time and programming to achieve this security patch, and as of July 8, 2026, BRMEMC was informed that the timeline for said security patching would be between sixty (60) and ninety (90) days. This is in addition to the time that the site has already been down.

It is important to note that BRMEMC did not have any breach of data, nor did we suspect that the security issue compromised any member information at any time. However, once we discovered the potential for a security issue, it would have been irresponsible to continue allowing member use of the site while a security upgrade was made. BRMEMC values the integrity of member-customer information, and thus the difficult decision to suspend use of some site features was made. We recognize the inconvenience to our members, but we also hope that members will appreciate the sincerity with which we approach the confidentiality and security of their personal information.

We are diligently working with our third-party vendor, Paymentus, to accelerate the completion of the security upgrade, and are investigating all remedies afforded us, both in our contract and otherwise. We appreciate the ongoing patience of our members, and hope that by sharing this additional information, our members will get a clearer view of why these features remains offline.
